Forage Value Index
The Forage Value Index (FVI) helps Australian dairy farmers make more informed decisions when selecting profitable ryegrass cultivars.
Developed in collaboration with DataGene, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and the Pasture Trials Network, it provides an independent and reliable assessment on the potential economic value of Perennial, Italian and Annual ryegrass cultivars.
FVI tables 2024
Each year, the FVI is updated with fresh trial data to ensure the cultivar rankings remain as accurate as possible.
In 2024, FVI trial sites were conducted in several dairy farming regions across Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania and Western Australia. Any newly available commercial cultivars have been added to the rankings.
