Strategic Plan
Dairy Australia’s Strategic Plan sets our priorities and outcomes that we will deliver from 2025 to 2030.
Strategic overview
The 2025-2030 Dairy Australia Strategic Plan is in the final stages of development. The full plan will be released in October 2025 and will outline our priorities and investments over the next five years.
This strategy streamlines our strategic priorities, placing farm profitability at the heart of our investment focus. In our new Strategic Plan, we set out three priority areas for investment – enabling farmers to be more profitable so that they can unlock today’s potential of their farms, investing for future success in research and innovation that deliver long-term productivity gains, and growing our local and global markets ensuring a sustainable industry that is competitive from the farm, right to the kitchen table.
This strategic framework aims to simply represent the complex interdependencies of improving farm profitability while ensuring a sustainable industry via the following three strategic priorities.
Priorities
1. Unlocking today’s potential
Strengthening farm business performance by supporting informed decision-making, farm practice change, and people.
2. Innovating for future success
Driving research and innovation that delivers productivity benefits via incremental gains and disruptive technology.
3. Ensuring a sustainable industry
Uniting the dairy industry to shape and deliver dairy’s commitment to sustainability, strengthen global and domestic competitiveness, and drive community trust and support.
Framework
Regional consultation
An extensive, industry-wide consultation plan was carried out to shape the development of the new strategic priorities, with dedicated in-person and online workshops held for farmers and industry stakeholders across a range of locations.
To build a broader sense of farmer priorities in each region, data from additional sources, including farm engagement plans and consultation sessions with state dairy farming organisations, were consolidated and analysed.
Detailed information regarding the consultation process, alongside a summary of stakeholder insights, can be found in the Regional Consultation Playback report below.
