YDN Field Day - Concentrating on Concentrates - CopRice Mill Tour

Have you spent much time thinking about what is in the concentrates you buy, why its in there, and then how it is all turned into the pellets that arrive on-farm?

Join us for a tour of the CopRice mill to find out all this and more. Our guide for the day will be YDN Leader, Pip Bruce. Pip is a nutritionist and sales manager based at the Cobden site.

After a brief welcome and safety introduction we will tour the mill, meeting the millers and seeing the process from the basic ingredients arriving, through to the finished product leaving the depot.

Two of CopRices commodity team managers are visiting the mill on the day and will be on-hand to give an update on the current market for cattle feed products. They will be able to answer your questions on where the market is heading and how that could influence your own on-farm feeding decisions.

Pip will then lead the discussion on why and how we feed concentrates to cows, including:

Basic principles of feeding dairy cows

Making informed feeding decisions

Formulating rations

Adjusting rations to the season

Lunch will be provided by CopRice. All attendees are required to wear steel-capped safety boots. Safety glasses and hi-vis will be provided by the mill team.
