Careers
Dairy Australia is building awareness of careers in the dairy industry by engaging students, teachers and parents through events, online information and partnerships with Explore Careers, Primary Industry Education Foundation Australia and Cows Create Careers.
We are the major sponsor of Cows Create Careers, a popular free program educating years 5 to 11 students about careers in the Australian dairy industry. Run by Jaydee Events, it empowers teachers to explore the dairy industry in a practical way with the support of experienced industry advocates. Discover more about dairy careers below.
Picasso Cows
The popular Picasso Cows program provides school children with an interactive learning experience, bringing the dairy industry to life in the classroom. The eight-week program aims to educate students about the Australian dairy industry and its people and products, and includes decorating an almost life-sized, fibre glass cow and completing a learning journal. Teachers use Discover Dairy to support learning throughout the program. Discover more about Picasso Cows below.
Virtual reality farm tours
Virtual reality farm tours provide an immersive, educational experience using headsets to transport children onto a dairy farm to visually learn about how milk is made.
Students go from the paddock and milking shed to processing, packing and even through a cow’s rumen to learn how their favourite dairy products are made. They also learn about how dairy farmers and their teams work to supply nutritious, sustainable food to fuel a healthier Australia.
Farm visits
Farm visits are a popular excursion for school groups to help bring to life classroom learning about the dairy industry and the farm to plate process.
The Farm Visit Kit has been created to help dairy farmers prepare for school groups visiting their farms. The kit contains posters, booklets and stickers to help before, during and after the visit, and can be requested by contacting us.
