Liaison Livestock Industry Training in Lismore on 7 March 2025

As dairy farmers, we are no strangers to the challenges that can arise in our industry, and it’s crucial that we stay ahead of potential risks, especially when it comes to biosecurity. In the event of a pest or disease outbreak, the dairy sector could face severe impacts, which is why the development of a dedicated support network is so important.

If you are someone who understands the dairy sector and has a passion for helping others, you have an opportunity to make a real difference in a time of need. Australian Dairy Farmers, with the support of Animal Health Australia and Dairy Australia, is actively working to establish a network of trained professionals who could be called upon to work alongside government response agencies during a biosecurity emergency.

On 7 March 2025, a special training workshop will be held in Lismore, where dairy farmers and industry representatives will learn about the crucial role of the Liaison - Livestock Industry (LLI) in a biosecurity emergency. This training will provide you with the knowledge and tools necessary to support government agencies in managing and responding to outbreaks that could affect the dairy sector.

The workshop is hosted by P2R2 Consulting and is open to any farmers or industry representatives who are interested in being part of the response network. Once trained, you will become an essential member of a group ready to provide support during emergencies, and you will have access to ongoing training and updates to keep your skills sharp.

As a trained Liaison, your role would involve working closely with government teams to ensure dairy farmers and the broader industry receive the right support and guidance. With a strong, responsive network in place, we can help mitigate the impact of a biosecurity emergency and keep the dairy sector moving forward.
